What does HPC stand for?

What do I need to access HPC facilities?

You need a UT Student ID or Faculty and Staff ID to scan in at the HPC Front Desk. You can also download the Utah Tech Rec App on your phone scan at the HPC Front Desk.

You also will need to fill out the liability waiver once a year.

Who has a Membership to the HPC?

Student Memberships

Students do not need to purchase a membership to use the HPC facilities. Memberships for full- and part-time students are included in the Student Initiated Fee paid each semester.

Faculty/Staff: Faculty/Staff Memberships- are for current part-time and full-time employees

Do you offer guest/visitor passes?

At this time, HPC does not have guest passes available. Only current students, faculty, and staff are able to use the HPC.

What does an HPC membership provide?

Access to fitness centers, indoor/outdoor track, basketball, soccer, pickle ball, volleyball, table tennis, boxing, climbing wall, multi-purpose room, and cardio areas.

What is not included in an HPC membership?

Examples include the following: Campus Recreation personal training, Intramural sport registrations, Outdoor Recreation trips

Why do we have to check in at the front desk?

Controlling the access to our facilities will allow HPC to better monitor traffic in and out of our facilities and to keep the building safe for all patrons. Memberships will allow HPC to provide a more comprehensive and contemporary collegiate recreation experience, in line with other institutions.

Where can I store my stuff?

We offer free day-use cubbies & lockers. We have cubbies on Level 1, Level 2, Level 3. Lockers are available on Lower level, level 2, Level 3. These do not come with locks, but you are welcome to provide your own lock for your locker during your daily use. These locks may not stay on overnight. The HPC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

What is the cost to use a locker for the day?

There is no fee for day-use lockers; they can be utilized on a first-come first-served basis. We currently do not have lockers for rent.

Is Parking available?

There are parking options near Human Performance Center. Please refer to the specific facility for parking information on our parking page.

Can I check out equipment? How much does it cost?

All HPC members may borrow a variety of sports & fitness equipment to use in our facilities for free with their Student ID. Options include, but are not limited to: fitness equipment, basketballs, volleyball, futsal ball, indoor soccer, pickle ball gear, climbing harness, and climbing shoes. Can someone show me around the HPC?

Yes! You can schedule tours of the building through our website. Our staff is trained and ready to answer any questions you may have.

How do I reserve court space?

At this time, HPC does not have a court reservation system available. Access to courts is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

How do I reserve a multi-purpose space?

At this time, HPC does not have a multi-purpose room reservation system available. Access to multi-purpose rooms is on a first-come-first-serve basis. However, you may reserve any of the multi-purpose rooms for a private event. Reservations can be made through Central Scheduling at

What are the facility hours?

The facility hours may vary throughout the semester. This is due to events, Campus Rec programming, breaks, and finals. Please check our hours of operation page.

Where are the campus recreation offices?

Campus recreation offices are located directly to left of the staircase on Level 2 of the HPC.

Where are the academic offices?

The Health & Human Performance Department Faculty and Academic Advisors are located on Level 3 on the academic side of building.

Where are HHP classes held?

They are held on the Mezzanine Level and Level 2 on the academic side of the building. Biomechanics & Exercise Physiology Labs are on the main level. PT assistant & athletic training labs are located on Level 2.

What is the best way to stay up-to-date?

Social media always sees it first. So, follow us on social media @utahtechhpc (Instagram, Facebook) and visit our website, hpc.utahtech.edu, especially when it gets closer to the start of each semester.

Are there locker rooms and/or showers to use between classes?

Yes, there are locker rooms with showers in all facilities including the pools. The front desk or the lower level desk staff are happy to show you to the locker rooms.

What Campus Rec programs are offered?

Group fitness classes, aquatic classes, intramurals, sports clubs, outdoor recreation. To find out more information, visit the Campus Rec website.

Are there inclusive restrooms/locker rooms?

We have an inclusive restroom on main level. We have inclusive locker rooms on lower level by the wet classroom.

How do I see open HPC positions?

Student Staff Student Employment apply for jobs on handshake.com or contact the UT Career Services for other questions about preparing for employment on campus.

How many laps around the indoor and/or outdoor track equal mile?

9 laps

Is the HPC open on holidays/breaks?

We are closed New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Pioneer Day, Thanksgiving Weekend, and Christmas. We have modified hours for MLK Jr day, President’s Day, Spring Break, Fall Break, Labor Day, and Winter Semester Break.

Why can I only bring water into the facility?

In effort to keep the facility as clean as possible, only water is allowed in the facility. Food and drinks are permitted in lobby areas on Main Level and Level 3 on academic side.

How can I know how busy HPC is?

Do athletes practice at the HPC?

The only varsity team using our facility for regular practices and/or competition is UT women’s swimming. On occasion men’s and women’s basketball use our facility for practice.
