Facility Management’s mission is to efficiently operate, maintain, and improve campus facilities in support of University programs by providing a safe, clean, attractive, and friendly environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

HPC Check-In at Welcome Desk

  • You can check in with your Student ID or MY UT App at the Welcome Desk.
  • Have your Student ID or My UT App ready to be scanned.
  • Check with the staff to make sure the area you want to use is open.
  • Wait until prompted to scan your ID or App so staff can make sure the computer is ready.

Building Features

Aquatic Center

The Aquatic Center is located on the lower level and features a 50-meter Olympic-sized swimming pool with two movable bulkheads, two 3-meter diving boards, two 1-meter diving boards, and a 20-person spa. The pool can be configured for both 25-meter and 50-meter swimming and competition.

UT patrons can enjoy the facility for lap swimming, diving, log rolling, CrossNet, and spikeball.

The Aquatic Center is also home to the UT Women’s swim team.

Fitness Centers

The HPC features two fitness centers. The main-level fitness center offers a variety of weight and cardio equipment.

The Level 2 Fitness Center provides additional free weight equipment for those focused on strength training. Cardio equipment is also available on Levels 2 and 3 for convenient access.

Indoor Basketball Courts

The basketball courts are located on Level 2. Two of the courts feature wood flooring and are used for both basketball and volleyball.

Open recreation times are available for each activity; however, please note that the space is also used for academic classes, intramural sports, club sports, and other scheduled events.

Climbing Wall

The bouldering and climbing walls are located on the lower level. The climbing wall is the tallest on any college or university campus in Utah, standing at 65 feet, and includes a 14-foot bouldering wall.

The facility offers routes for climbers of all skill levels, along with a designated training area for warm-ups. Equipment is available for patrons to use, making it easy to drop in and climb.

Multi-purpose rooms

The multi-purpose rooms are located on Level 3. There are three rooms available for a variety of academic courses, campus recreation classes, and personal workouts. These spaces can also be reserved for small group events.

Two of the multi-purpose rooms are equipped with Fitness On Demand, offering patrons access to a wide variety of guided workouts.

Multi Activity Court (MAC)

The MAC is located on Level 2 near the Fitness Center. The Multi-Activity Court (MAC) features a versatile surface designed for a variety of sports, including volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer, futsal, and more.

Indoor Track

The indoor track is located on Level 3 and overlooks the Level 2 courts and cardio areas. The track is available for you to enjoy during your run or walk.

The track direction alternates daily to help prevent uneven wear and tear on one side of the body. Patrons can refer to the posted signage on the pillars around the track for the designated direction each day.

1 mile = 9 laps on both the indoor and outdoor tracks.

Will Hill

The Will Hill Sprint Track features a 40-degree incline that connects the Level 3 indoor track to the rooftop outdoor track.

It offers scenic views of the St. George landscape while providing a challenging transition between the indoor and outdoor tracks.

Rooftop Outdoor Courts

The rooftop features two outdoor basketball courts, four pickleball courts, and an outdoor track.

The outdoor track is available for you to enjoy during your run or walk. It also offers scenic views of the UT campus and the St. George red rocks.

Additionally, designated spaces are located in each corner for stretching, relaxing, and taking in the surrounding views of St. George and the UT campus.

The rooftop is also available as an event space.

Cardio Areas

The cardio areas are located on Level 2 on both sides of the basketball courts and near the MAC. With over 45 machines including treadmills, Stair Masters, ellipticals, and bikes the space offers a versatile cardio experience for all fitness levels. Many machines also provide workout tracking through user accounts.
Free, secure day-use lockers are available near the Level 2 fitness center and throughout the building to keep your belongings safe while you work out.

Spin Area

The Spin/Cycling area is located on Level 3, just off the indoor track, with views overlooking the UT campus. This space is primarily used for group fitness classes.
When classes are not in session, the area is open for general use.

Outdoor Balconies

The East Balcony is located on the main level of the HPC and can be accessed from outside or through the Level 1 Fitness Center. It overlooks the UT campus and Student Activity Center and is ideal for stretching or yoga.
The Southwest Balcony is located on Level 2, just off the basketball courts and cardio areas, and offers scenic views of St. George. It provides an excellent space for stretching, yoga, rope workouts, or simply enjoying fresh air.

Lockers/Locker rooms

Day-use lockers are available at no cost at the Human Performance Center (HPC) on a first-come, first-served basis. These lockers are located in the lower-level patron locker rooms, the lower-level lobby near the wet classroom, Level 2 near the Fitness Center, and Level 3 near the multipurpose rooms and recreation lobby.
Patrons must bring their own lock when using a day-use locker. All locks and personal belongings must be removed by the end of the day.

Spaces available for reservation in the Human Performance Center at this time include the following areas:

  • Multipurpose Rooms
  • Outdoor Basketball Court (2 Courts)
  • Pickleball Courts (4 courts)
  • Conference Room/Classrooms.

Whether you are with a group, class, or just want to walk through the Human Performance Center solo, we have a variety of tour options for you! Tour requests need to be made at least one full week in advance in order to schedule the staff needed.
